The movie is all about the fight against terrorism and the Indian National Security Agency (NSA) featuring an espionage agent Ashoka (Vinod Khanna) to find out the mobile phone numbers of terrorists by any means. He meets up his old friend, Ajanta Roy (Priti Patel), who now works as a journalist in England. She is very vocal about her love for India and she has put her life at risk for this country. This makes Ashoka trust her even more than he would otherwise do because he knows that she can be a big help to him. Ajanta reveals that they are operating from the Indian Embassy in London, which is not really true. She helps him hack into the mobile phone network of terrorists. She also manages to hack into the computer system of mobile phone company. The heroine uses her smartness and professionalism to help Ashoka with their mission, but she has a hidden agenda as well. Her development as an actress is quite good. Vinod Khanna has given a fiery performance too, but their chemistry doesn’t seem natural at all because he is almost 50 years old and Priti Patel looks like she is just out of college with little experience in the industry. The story also portrays the fact that the person who does something for his country, has to sacrifice a lot. Ashoka has to lose his partner in order to save hundreds of innocent people. The movie shows how terrorists are actually killing innocent people. It also highlights how important it is for governments to provide facilities to their citizens. The script is interesting, but the direction seems average. The film’s music is very appealing and manages to keep the audience engaged with the story throughout the film. The thing that stands out the most in the film is the dialogues. They are very patriotic and they make it a point to show a positive image of a true Indian citizen. The overall direction is good, but there are a few scenes which could have been handled better. In general, Ashoka The Hero is a good movie with an important message that encourages people to become heroes themselves by putting their lives on the line for their country and its welfare.
